Cardiovascular Support & Muscle Function*

  • OVERVIEW

Epicatechin is a flavanol compound naturally present in cocoa, green tea, and berries. It has been researched for its antioxidant properties and its potential to support various physiological functions. Epicatechin helps neutralize free radicals, which are known to cause oxidative stress, and supports cellular health. It has been shown to influence nitric oxide production, which plays a role in promoting healthy blood flow. Studies suggest that epicatechin may also support glucose metabolism and muscle physiology through mechanisms such as myostatin modulation and protein synthesis enhancement, areas that require further clinical investigation for confirmation of its effects.

  • MUSCLE GROWTH, PERFORMANCE, & RECOVERY

Research has indicated that epicatechin may interact with pathways related to muscle physiology. Myostatin is a protein involved in regulating muscle growth, and some studies suggest that epicatechin may influence myostatin signaling, a pathway associated with muscle development and adaptation.1

Epicatechin is also involved in supporting protein synthesis, which is critical for muscle repair and maintenance. Preliminary research has indicated a potential benefit for those engaging in resistance training or exercise by supporting muscle adaptation and recovery.2 Additionally, epicatechin has been observed to influence skeletal muscle contractility and energy production by interacting with cellular pathways such as calcium release and mitochondrial biogenesis.3

  • NITRIC OXIDE PRODUCTION

Epicatechin has been studied for its role in supporting the body’s production of nitric oxide (NO) through its interaction with endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS). NO is involved in vascular function, contributing to the relaxation of blood vessels and promoting healthy blood flow. Research suggests that this mechanism may support cardiovascular and cognitive function.4

  • ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY

Epicatechin demonstrates antioxidant activity through multiple mechanisms. It directly neutralizes reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS), reducing oxidative stress in the body. Additionally, it may enhance the activity of endogenous antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase, which further supports the body’s defense against oxidative damage.5

    Repeat buyer

Although not with very obvious signs, there has been a clear difference when I’m on Epicathechin and when I’m not. The muscle gains are definitely noticeable for the user that keeps track of it. If you’re doing the right work and diet, this product has given me an edge in terms of acquiring slightly more lean muscle mass. I don’t take it continuously, I’m off for weeks then resume it for weeks. I definitely see the benefits and difference.

Epicatechin is an under appreciated compound.

I’ve taken InfiniWell’s Epicatechin for upwards 5 years. It’s an under appreciated compound IMHO, as it truly supports my efforts at maintaining my hard earned muscle at 49 years young. When I take breaks, I soften a bit. I’ve tried other brands, but Infiniwell is noticeably more effective.

  • What is epicatechin?

Epicatechin is a bioactive compound found in dark chocolate, green tea, and certain fruits like apples, grapes, and berries. It’s been studied in both human and animal models for its beneficial effects on oxidative capacity, blood flow, and skeletal muscle adaptation.

Research has shown that epicatechin supplementation may:

    • Support nitric oxide production
    • Maintains a healthy balance of myostatin and follistatin (muscle growth regulators)
    • Promote mitochondrial biogenesis (the process of creating new mitochondria to support energy production)
    • Encourage muscle protein synthesis (the process of building new muscle proteins for growth and repair)

  • What are the benefits of taking an epicatechin supplement?

InfiniWell Epicatechin is formulated to support various fitness and wellness goals. Some of the most cited effects of epicatechin include:

    Strength gains and muscle size

Epicatechin helps balance myostatin gene expression, the process by which the body produces myostatin, a protein that limits muscle growth. This may support muscle mass maintenance and development—especially when combined with resistance training.

    Endurance and recovery

This supplement supports oxygen uptake, nutrient delivery, and muscle recovery during strenuous exercise by encouraging better blood flow and cellular energy production, helping you bounce back faster between training sessions.

    Blood flow and vascularity

Epicatechin promotes healthy circulation and vascularity through nitric oxide pathways (the body's natural process for relaxing blood vessels). This may contribute to improved muscle pump, sustained energy, and overall cardiovascular support during physical activity.

    Antioxidant defense

It helps combat exercise-induced oxidative stress by neutralizing free radicals and supporting the body’s natural antioxidant systems, which may protect cells and tissues during intense workouts.

    Metabolic support

Epicatechin may help aid insulin sensitivity (how effectively the body responds to insulin) and support efficient energy metabolism, which is important for maintaining stable blood sugar levels, fueling workouts, and supporting body composition goals.

  • How does epicatechin support muscle growth?

Epicatechin influences key pathways involved in skeletal muscle development. Specifically, it has been shown to:

    • Suppress myostatin levels (including relative myostatin mRNA expression)
    • Support muscle protein synthesis
    • Promote increases in skeletal muscle mass and strength when combined with consistent training
    • Encourage aerobic training adaptations through improved oxygen uptake
    • Potentially increase mitochondrial biogenesis, helping the body meet energy demands during prolonged activity
By inhibiting myostatin and supporting blood flow to working muscles, epicatechin supplementation may support muscle function and help users get more out of their training sessions.

  • What’s the recommended amount for epicatechin supplements?

For optimal absorption, the suggested serving size is 2 capsules daily with water on an empty stomach. It's best taken in the morning or before workouts. Each serving provides a total of 500 mg of isolated epicatechin.

As with any supplement, it's important to consult your healthcare provider before starting a new regimen.

  • How long does it take for epicatechin to work?

Some individuals report noticing changes such as improved muscle blood flow, better training sessions, or quicker post-workout recovery within 1–2 weeks.

More noticeable support for performance-related goals—such as workout stamina or power output—may take 4–8 weeks of consistent resistance or endurance training, along with nutrition and supplementation practices.

  • Who should take InfiniWell Epicatechin?

This supplement is ideal for individuals looking to support skeletal muscle adaptation, maintain cardiovascular health, or promote endurance as part of an active lifestyle:

    • Fitness enthusiasts, athletes, and strength trainers
    • Those focused on maintaining muscle function in the context of age-related or genetic muscle concerns (with guidance)
    • Anyone looking to support exercise performance or maintain cardiovascular function

  • Is epicatechin a steroid?

No. Epicatechin is a naturally occurring plant compound—not a steroid or synthetic hormone. Its mechanism of action involves gene expression modulation (e.g., myostatin expression) and vascular support through nitric oxide pathways.

  • Is epicatechin safe?

Yes, epicatechin supplements are generally well-tolerated when taken as directed. InfiniWell’s formula is:

    • Physician-formulated
    • Third-party tested
    • Free from banned or stimulant ingredients
No adverse effects on cholesterol levels, blood pressure, or organ function have been reported in available studies, but clinical studies are ongoing.

  • What is nitric oxide, and why does it matter?

Nitric oxide (NO) is crucial for blood vessel dilation, which supports nutrient delivery, oxygen uptake, and muscle blood flow. By helping the body increase nitric oxide production, epicatechin promotes:

    • Exercise endurance capacity
    • Heart health
    • Improved vascular function and aerobic performance
These effects are particularly helpful for those doing aerobic or anaerobic training.
